9 Shot Analysis

I have chosen to analyse a song by Delilah called 'Inside My Love'. During this 9 shot analysis I am going to discuss the micro areas that have been used to help represent the artist.

In this video there have been many close ups of the artists face. The video starts off with a close up showing the artists face which looks quite sad and emotionless. This gives the audience an idea about what the rest of the video is going to be about. There is also a close up of her face when she is singing with her eyes shut. This also shows us her tattoos and her simple clothing, like we have seen in her other music videos. We also see many close ups of the artist and the male throughout the video, showing their faces very close together with their lips nearly touching. This shows the audience the intimacy between them and gives them an idea of the relationship between them. There have also been a few long shots used when the two characters are stood up dancing and holding onto each other. this shows us the contempary dancing which gives the audience an insight into their relationship; there is a lot of sexual tension between the male and female. The long shots also show us the very casual outfits both characters are wearing, for example the female is wearing a plain white top and cotton shorts and the male is wearing just black trousers. This keeps the video very simple so that the attention is based on the relationship and the way in which it is shown through dance. Close ups of the characters bodies have been shown when they are touching each other, as you can see in one of the shots of the male holding onto the females hip/bottom. This gives the audience the idea that there is sexual tension between them by the way he grabs onto her bottom and strokes around her back and stomach. 

The editing is quite slow and long shot duration is used at the beginning of the video when we are first introduced to both the characters. This could suggest that their relationship starts off slow, and speeds up and more intimacy is involved when we get to the chorus of the song. This is also parallel to the music and what is happening on screen. The editing speeds up as the video progresses, which gives the audeince an idea that their relationship is also getting faster and stronger and more compassion is shown between both of the characters by the way in which they dance with each other and touch each other. 

We can see from this video that Delilah is portrayed as having sexual appeal by the way in which she dresses in small clothes showing a lot of flesh, and the way in which she dances with the male. I noticed that Delilah is represented the same as in her other videos; wearing casual, unique clothes and being very stylish.
