Narrative: The way in which the story is told. Explain how the mise en scene of the video contributes to the video being a narrative base video.

The beginning of this music video shows Trey Songz in a hospital on a heart machine, which gives us the idea that he has had a heart attack as this is the name of the song. The Location is mainly in a house or a garden telling us that they are a couple who live together. It shows him and the female in the video in a car arguing which relates to the lyrics of the song as he is singing about his troubles in his relationship. There is a car crash at the end of the video with both of them in the car and then we see them both in hospital at the end. This explains to us that this must have been how he had a heart attack.

In what ways does the camerawork of this video contribute to it's type?

The artists are shown throughout this music video with examples of close ups of them playing their instruments and singing which shows us their passion in their music and the instrument they are playing. There are also examples of a long shot showing us that there are 4 of them in the band and all of them play their own instrument and who plays what. It also shows us that they are proper musicians and all can sing. A dark palette is used such as the dark lighting and the dark shadows on the artists faces which sets the mood of the song.

Concept Base: Singles Ladies - Beyonce
What do you think the main concept of the video is? How is this put across using micro areas?

The main concept of this video is the representation of independent women. The dark lighting and bright flashes of white set the mood of the song and matches the music. There are close ups of Beyonce repeatedly pointing at her ring finger throughout the video whilst singing 'put a ring on it', this tells us what she is singing about. There are examples of long shots of all the women showing us their big hair, make-up and small, seductive outfits which creates sex appeal. The way in which she only has female backing dancers who are doing the same strong and big dance moves as her, represents themselves as strong independent woman, especially Beyonce as she is in the middle and is the main focus in this video.
